Competition 1 - The Unusual Winter of 2011
$60 Prize - Paid via paypal

It was about time for a new competition guys! This is our first serious competition, the last ones were childs play. This will be our first competition for a cash prize: $60. The theme of the competition is going to be: The Unusual Winter of 2011.

This means the game you create must be winter themed. Christmas, cold weather, snow all staples of winter. But ofcourse it wouldnt be a competition without a few twists. The word unusual in the title is to be taken literally, we want an unusual twist to your game, something that is odd, strange and unexpected within the winter environment.

This can be yellow snow, to santa portrayed as milkshake. Whilst we do want whacky we do NOT want poor mechanics and sloppy controls. Unusual is not a synonym for poor effort my friends.

So the prize for this competition is $60. That is to be paid via paypal to the winner on December 31st 2011. To enter simply make your game and upload it to SigmaNine before or on the 25th of December. And then post a link to the game in this topic. Judging will take place between 25th and 31st of December. Ratings will decide and on the 31st the moderators will vote between the top 5 games.

Quick Game Requirement Summary:
  • Must Run on Windows
  • Winter Theme
  • Unusual Twist to Winter
  • Must Be uploaded to SigmaNine by 25th of December

So away you go $60 is up for grabs!

Hehe I love that cat image.

Hmm... I shall try to think up an idea.  I've wanted to do some programming for myself for a while now.  Trouble is I've never been good at coming up with short game ideas.

Originally, I ruled myself out of creating any game for this. But I am having second thoughts. So here's my decision:
If I think of a great prototype/game (and I'm on the right track) I will be entering it into the competition.

I'll have to do this.
The next sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.

There's a slight chance that I may cook something up and enter it in the competition. However, my time's extremely limited right now with school, so hopefully once Christmas break roles around, I can start major work on it. Sounds like an interesting competition.

Also, how come no one told me the forums were alive again? I haven't checked the site in a while because it seemed inactive for quite some time, and I came back to see this competition and I see that most of the old timers are back. A pleasant surprise, really :)

Just a heads up guys I may enter the competition with a none entry. Basically because I'm running the comp I'm not elegible to win. But I'd still like to make a game within the constraints of the theme :3
