For reference, the discussion about forum organization was taking over what appears to have been intended as a general thread, so I split it into a new topic.

My own personal suggestion is basically: decide what features you want to add, and add them. Let's try to avoid endlessly speculating on grand plans. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me that's the main killer of projects. It's better and more effective to know what few things you can do, and do them well, than to try to out-compete better-funded operations for volume. If popularity really takes off, then we can talk about volume.
Also, advertise. Maybe not until the updates are to the point where the site feels new again, but all the updates in the world don't help activity if no one knows about them. Not really sure how best to go about advertising, though. That's probably worth its own thread.
