Bring Activity Back
« on: 23 November, 2011, 02:16:32 AM »
I think that we can easily bring activity back to this community.  With GameJolt losing activity, and YYG pretty much neglecting the "average" game makers game (http://sandbox.yoyogames.com is not nearly as active when it was just the main site).

We just need to try to get a couple more active users and then start advertising everywhere.

To help with activity, I can start to work on an extension for Google Chrome that can display things such as number of unread posts and pms.

Lets bring S9 to what TP used to be.

How did I miss this
whenever I posted it, it didnt appear in the "Recent Posts" section under the navigation bar.

I will create a mock up of the app on paper on my way home tomorrow, and then work on it if I get a chance once I get there.

Right now I plan on including the following features:
-Who's Online?
-Recent Posts
-Number of PMs

If someone wants to host a phpIRCbot for the chatroom, I can also include a list of who is in the chatroom with it.
Feel free to list any other features you think it could use.

The chat was one of the most active parts of the site when there were many active members.  And could easily be one of the things that helps bring the community back.  Even though I noticed that there is no link on the site to it anymore, I still go in there once a week or so just hoping that someone else may be there.

However, I created a mockup for the extension, I will try to have a prototype to test by the end of the week.

Bring back Xat! ;) I kinda miss its cheesy bongs, NT and MQ's obsessions with that odd giggle face, and when it got flooded with idiots when it was featured on Xat's homepage :P

Active yes. But considering there was only about 3 or 4 of us you can't really call it that active. I think the focus should be on the integrated games, the developers tools, features, videos etc etc

Aha, the xat days, :3 And randomly being signed out. I've not used Xat in yonks. Not that many people are on, the only problem with xat really would be people getting signed out whilst waiting for others.

xat was fun. The blogs were also interesting, but I'm sure there's a reason for the discontinuation.

Truth.

Regarding the site and the topic, it would be pleasing to see more a comprehensive emphasis on the game development element.

But your post is like the void of nothingness, it has no point D: You have any thoughts on bringing activity back to the site?
